Grimspound is a Bronze Age village on the eastern side of Dartmoor. Surrounded by a granite wall called a 'pound' to safely keep in livestock, it was believed to contain at least twenty four thatched granite round houses. I have painted this panoramic scene looking westwards into the heart of the moor.

This part of the River Tamar is only a short walk down the hill from where I live. To say that it was an influence on my early career would be an understatement. It is a landscape that is almost impossibly beautiful. It teems with flora and fauna.
I have painted it here on one of those late summer afternoon's when I came upon a family's daughter taking to the water. |
